Birgit and Noureddine come from south of Germany. Inspired by the intoxicating atmosphere of the city of Marrakech, they discovered in 2015 a beautiful traditional house right in the center of the old town. Size and location of the house are ideal to design a marvelous guest house in the medina. The Moroccan house with patio and roof-terrace was originally owned by a large and well-known Moroccan family who are leather and wood bladders’ traders.

The renovation with donkeys and carts
After two years of renovation, the Riad Albatoul is now to open in September 2018. The architect Birgit Götz-Ullrich and Noureddine Belhaouari have renovated the splendid house giving attention to the tiniest detail. The traditional Moroccan craftsmanship is executed at the highest artistic and technical level. Riad Albatoul combines tradition, modern technology and attractive design. Here you will find comfortable international standard with a genuine Moroccan touch.

The beautiful riad with green courtyard and pool has five atmospheric and skillfully decorated rooms and a gorgeous suite. The rooms and the suite have a beautiful bathroom decorated with blue-green colors. On the ground floor, a Moroccan salon with open fireplace inviting and convivial. On the spacious roof-terrace, the bustle of the city drowns out by the overwhelming beauty of the deep-blue sky. On comfortable sun loungers, in the hammam, spa and massage room you have a feel of a dreamy time. In the evening, the open-air bar and a comfortable sitting area on the roof-terrace invites you to have exciting discussions and a sense of wonder.
The name Riad Albatoul
From the beginning we knew that this traditional house will bear the name of Noureddine’s mother. “Mom Albatoul” was a resourceful and dedicated woman who had spent her life caring for her children and advocating the idea of social justice.

Riad Albatoul is five minutes’ walk from Jam Al Fna square in the neighborhood of Ben Salah; its unique location in the heart of the medina makes it a gateway to all the traditional markets, the museums and historic palaces that abound in the winding alleys of Marrakech. Noureddine is particularly attached to this neighborhood, as he had spent his childhood and youth there. We are very happy to have found a beautiful location down town.
